Dr. Alvi is a highly qualified, board certified ophthalmologist and certified LASIK surgeon. She received her medical doctorate degree with multiple honors from Cornell Medical College in New York in 1992. She completed her residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1996. After residency, Dr. Alvi went on to complete a fellowship in Glaucoma at Indiana University where she performed many anterior segment surgeries and laser procedures. Dr. Alvi received her LASIK training and certification from Casebeer Eye Institute in 1999. Dr. Alvi has performed hundreds of microsurgeries and laser surgeries.

Dr. Alvi is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She keeps current with the latest technologies by participating in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Chicago Medical Society. Dr. Alvi has done research on corneal wound healing and corneal topography. She has received numerous awards at national scientific meetings for her research and has been published in scientific journals and textbooks.
