Dr. Bussa is a native of Ladd, IL. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served initial overseas tours in Germany and the Republic of Vietnam. After returning to the United States, Dr. Bussa completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX, where he graduated with honors. In 1979, he completed a flexible internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, in 1982, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Bussa became board certified in ophthalmology in 1983 and went on to complete his Army career by serving six years as staff ophthalmologist and chief of the department of surgery at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC. In 1988, Dr. Bussa retired from the Army and joined the Mercy Regional Eye Center.
Dr. Bussa serves on the visiting faculty of the department of ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin and as an assistant professor for the department of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Bussa is an experienced eye surgeon who has performed refractive surgery at the Mercy Regional Eye Center since 1993 and has hundreds of satisfied patients. He stays current with technological advances, using the latest, state-of-the-art equipment to bring the highest quality eye care to this area. Dr. Bussa performs a wide range of eye surgeries in his practice, providing excellent eye care for the families in this community.
